There is no cure for eczema at present, but treatment is very effective for the majority of cases.
If your child has a sensitive skin it is better to try to prevent eczema rather than have to cure it. As a young baby your child may suffer from candle cap which is a form of eczema, or develop a rash in the folds of the skin around the neck. These are warning signs that you may need to take extra care.

Infant Eczema Treatment

If your baby shows signs of infant eczema ,and often it first appears as dry, red patches on the cheeks, you should try to keep the skin moist. Nowadays it is recommended that the infant should be bathed daily, but do not use perfumed soaps or bubble baths. A dermatological bath oil, such as E45 Emollient Bath Oil, will help to relieve the itching. The skin should be patted gently dry and a moisture cream applied immediately. Petroleum jelly can be used on infants but older children may prefer a cream that is less greasy. Central heating can create a very dry atmosphere so make sure that bedrooms do not become too hot. Clothes should not irritate the skin, if possible use cotton or silk, rather than wool, against the skin. There are companies online who sell silk clothing for infants and children with eczema. It is expensive but does help to alleviate the itching.
If your baby has cradle cap, oil will help to loosen it. If it occurs on an older child an anti-dandruff shampoo will often remove it. Cradle cap does not itch so your infant will not be distressed by it.

It has always been thought that diet may cause eczema. This is true in some cases, but a severe allergy to a certain food is likely to be seen quickly. However with an older child it is worth eliminating certain foods, particularly dairy produce, to see if the eczema improves. Do not change a baby's milk without consulting a doctor. In fact it is wise to consult a doctor before any action is taken.

Eczema Prescriptions

If your infant has mild eczema, the more natural home remedies suggested above may control it and your doctor will probably recommend trying them. A native remedy cream may also help. If the eczema is severe the doctor may prescribe an anti-inflammatory preparation, probably a mild corticosteroid cream that can be used long term. Antihistamines are also given to help relieve the itching and aid sleeping. Very severe eczema may be treated with an oral corticosteroid or possibly light treatment (phototherapy). Hopefully your child will not need this.

Fortunately most children outgrow eczema once they reach adulthood.

Eczema Cream
If there was a one cure for everyone who developed eczema it would not be a problem, unfortunately there is not, but I have found one herbal remedy that really works for the little girl who is pictured above. She suffered bouts of severe eczema and nothing seemed to cure it, not even prescriptions from her doctor. Her arms and legs were so sore they were cracked and bleeding. While searching online for a remedy that her teacher had recommended, I came across a cream on Ebay and decided to give it a try. Although the tiny pot of Magicream seemed quite expensive, it lasted for ages. There was an immediate improvement and within a week only the redness from scarring remained. I cannot guarantee it will work for you but at the slightest hint of eczema we apply the cream and the soreness clears. Spot testing any cream you use is sensible, just in case there is a reaction. The supplier is based in the UK and you can purchase it through ebay.co.uk. Please see below. She also ships to the US and it is available at Ebay.com.
